Idea Development

We were required to write a proposal, so the first thing I did was write a short biography about myself and a

statement about my work as instructed.

I need to find 3 templates for reference, in fact, I looked at more than 3 references

I made my poster based on the draft I wanted to express, using the photos I took in advance and the materials I found. But I was very confused about which title was better, so I made different titles for comparison.

I like my country’s traditional culture very much, and I want to do my best to promote Chinese traditional clothing, Hanfu, and Chinese culture.  And 2024 is the Year of the Dragon in China. I want to use the dragon to express the charm of Chinese culture. What is national is what is world-wide.

I started to use Ae to create based on the final selected poster, and at the same time learned to change the position, use key frames, puppet position control point tools, and mask layers

After constant adjustments, after my video was completed, I started looking for audio files and then giving my video a soundtrack

I originally thought that after all the homework was completed, I found that Mr. Martin's requirements for our video were create a composition setting 1080 px (Width) x 1920 px (Height), Duration 15 second
so I made some modifications and added the fireworks materials I found on both sides of the screen.

To create some movement, I merge many layers together or make some modifications.  

What I want to express is: Chinese culture is vast and profound, and we need to constantly explore and express it to show the splendor of Chinese culture.  I hope everyone likes Chinese culture and is willing to understand it.

FEEDBACK

Week 12
This week I told Mr. Martin about my idea and expressed the portrait I wanted to take of myself. I shared my references and pictures with him and he gave positive feedback that my idea was good.

Week 13
This week I showed Mr. Martin my reference images and told me my ideas and how to make them. His feedback was very positive and asked me to continue making posters and animations.

REFLECTION

Experience
This project was very challenging for me because it involved using my own likeness for posters and videos.  In addition, I am not familiar with the software After Effects because I don't use it very often. For this reason, I watched a lot of video production tutorials about Ae and encountered a lot of difficulties in creating animations.  Although I was not very satisfied with my work in the end, it was the best result I could do within my current limited abilities.  I'm excited to express myself through this project

Observations
Before starting this project, I was very confused and didn’t know what content to create. Finally, after participating in a comic exhibition and communicating with other students, I felt that I should express my own national culture and promote my own culture.

Findings
Throughout this project, I mainly gained skills in After Effects, creating animations and text effects
