Module Information Booklet
Based on the design you selected related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Task 1, analyze the design principles and evaluate the content and background.
• Phase 1: Observation
• Explain the elements presented in the visual based on what you see and understand.
• Phase 2: Analysis
• Based on the design principles and professional knowledge learned, analyze what visual principles are used in the image content to compose the image.
• Phase 3: Interpretation
• Based on the design work and the actual situation, explain the experience, style or historical background of the work.
• Phase 1: Observation
Original illustration: 《ocean fishing》
Source of inspiration: Overfishing of the oceans will result in a loss of marine ecological balance
Painter: Muhammad
Year:2022
Medium
This design work is in the format of an illustration. In the center is a whale swimming upwards, surrounded by smaller whales swimming downwards, people falling downwards, and an inverted fishing boat. There are layers of waves, bubbles of whales swimming, and birds in the sky. As for the visual elements, the main colors observed are blue, orange and yellow. Use different shades of blue to distinguish the subject from the surrounding environment, and use orange with different brightness and saturation to construct the characters and boats. Curved poster works are used throughout the space.(95 words)
• Phase 2: Analysis
This design is an asymmetrical balance, with contrasting colors between blue and yellow that differentiate the composition. The upward swimming body curve of the whale and the white lines brought by the waves will drive people's eyes upward, with the principle of continuity, giving people room for fantasy. The character and ship are flipped downwards, both orange, using the similarity principle,The themes used are all ocean. The colors of sea water and whales are blue, and all tasks and ships are only yellow and blue. All objects in the picture are compacted together to form a large main body, forming a unified picture.Spot whales and people as well as boats repeating from top to bottom of the design. Create a hierarchy--First we see the whale, then we see the man and the boat. (135 words)
• Phase 3: Interpretation
This is the work of Muhammad Mzsan, an artist with an unwavering passion for the ocean and a belief in the power of art to shape society. Committed to capturing the essence of the sea and conveying its vastness and beauty. He works mostly in canvas and mural style, painting murals for public spaces. Therefore, the colors are mostly retro tones with a sense of story. The illustration style has a strong mural style. The fresco style was the most popular type of art in all classical civilizations. The eleventh and twelfth centuries in Western Europe saw a major revival of mural painting(Art Education Series). The design of this poster is very mural-style and decorative art. It not only presents the theme of United Nations ocean protection, but also highlights the mural-style spatial decoration to present a unique beauty.(137 words)

FEEDBACK
Week 4:
There are no problems with my overall analysis and design principle analysis, but there is a little lack of content. A brief description of the content to be completed in Task 2 and the lack of color on the analysis poster. There are no other problems.
Week 5:
Mr. Wong reminded me to write the content of the reference, clearly specify the author, the name of the document, and the format must be correct. In subsequent works, be inspired but don’t be limited.
REFLECTION
In this task 2, the content, background and design principles of the poster were clearly analyzed. This will allow us to analyze posters more clearly in the future, gain a better understanding and evaluation of our own works, and have higher and more professional requirements for our future works.
