INSTRUCTIONS

PROJECT 1

PART 1

I needed to learn the motion principle and design process of this dynamic graphic based on the template provided. I followed a lot of tutorials.

I wanted to use balance to create a seesaw effect, so I placed two small balls and used position keyframes to move them according to the movement of the horizontal line.

I re-drew the dynamic graphics based on the methods I learned. I wanted to achieve the effect of line rotation. I used the pen tool to draw the line, and then changed the position and rotation angle of the line.
Then I changed the curve, but I have a question, why is my curve different from the one in the tutorial? I will make adjustments later.

In the middle of the rotating line, a white wireframe will appear. I use the shape tool to draw a square and then stroke it.

I wanted the wireframe to be less rigid and have the feeling of a line segment, so I thought of using graphic cropping. Later I found that I could achieve a better effect by inverting the graphic colors.

After the first rebuilt motion graphic was completed, I wanted to change the other motion graphics to make the whole thing more coherent.

So I used a rectangle to create a flashing effect, then used the zoom keyframe to slowly zoom in, and used a black wireframe rectangle in the middle to make the whole graphic more beautiful.

The wireframe is slowly enlarged, and the squares become a whole. Use the color key to add a black wireframe to give it a flashing border effect.

Then add the lines, use zoom to make them bigger, and the square box to make it smaller. This forms a complete dynamic image.

For the focus, I added a circular frame to the model, and then added thick lines to make it rotate.

I changed the original Scale model, rotated it 45 degrees using the Rotate tool, and then moved it together.

Finally, put all the finished graphics into the same composition.

PART 2

This part requires designing an overall dynamic shape video based on the graphics we re-researched and designed.

I first selected several video shapes in the collection, and then pieced them together to form a short and rough video.

Use shapes to make a transition between the entire video, so that it looks more harmonious and unified.

I started adjusting the rhythm of the whole video, the interval between each video and the order in which they appear, until the rhythm of the whole video was very comfortable and interesting.

Then add audio and adjust the rhythm of the audio to match the rhythm of the picture.

FEEDBACK

Week 2:

Week 3:
Mr. Fauzi reminds us not to forget the basic principles of graphics when changing the base model.

Week 4:

Week 5:
Mr. Fauzi reviewed the content of my assignment and thought that I had done a good project and reminded us to submit it in the correct format.

REFLECTION

During Project 1, I first began experimenting with motion graphics in After Effects. Initially, I was quite unsure how to combine the assets, especially the dynamic elements and backgrounds, to create a seamless effect. Mr. Fauzi patiently answered my questions and provided guidance on how to best create the image. Over time, I gradually developed techniques like arranging layers, using masks to create transitions, and using keyframes to control the rhythm of element appearance. These techniques helped me gain a clearer understanding of the composition logic.

Sometimes, I'd want a graphic to feel "more dynamic," but the resulting image would feel off-kilter or too abrupt. A crucial lesson I learned was not to focus on "coolness" from the outset; instead, I needed to ensure the motion had a rhythm, logic, and context. While the final result wasn't perfect, I felt it was a very rewarding process. It allowed me to understand motion graphics beyond simply "animation" and to begin to appreciate the design and rhythm behind it. In the future, I want to create even cooler animations and improve my ability to create motion graphics. I will continue to challenge myself and improve my creations.
