REFLECTION

Experience

In this Motion Graphic Compositing course, I completed multiple projects, ranging from basic graphic composition exercises to full-fledged animations incorporating sound, motion, and storytelling. This process allowed me to gradually master core After Effects tools and workflows, such as keyframe manipulation, masking, layer blending modes, and transitions. Each project presented new challenges, such as matching assets, pacing, and maintaining cohesion, but it also allowed me to grow through practice.

Observation

Through repeated practice, I discovered that the rhythm of the image and the coordination between layers are crucial factors in determining the quality of the composition. The quality of a composition depends not only on the smoothness of the animation itself, but also on the coordination of the various elements, their logic, and rhythm. Too much motion can make the image appear cluttered, while a lack of variety can make it monotonous. Furthermore, good pre-production planning (such as storyboarding and timeline organization) greatly improves post-production efficiency and reduces rework.

Discovery

I realized that motion graphics is more than just "making animations"; it's about telling stories and conveying information through visual language. The way each graphic appears, its rhythm, and its beat can reinforce a specific mood or key message. This course not only improved my ability to operate the software, but also stimulated my understanding of visual design and narrative rhythm. I also began to notice that composite design is not only a technical job, but also a process of creativity and expression, and I am gradually finding my own style.
